The red card that blows Ewels' 82 seconds out the water
Charlie Ewels' red card after 82 seconds against Ireland on Saturday will go down in England and Six Nations infamy.
Not only was the speed of it outrageous, but the brutality of it too, as the opponent James Ryan was unable to continue playing and has subsequently been ruled out of Ireland's match against Scotland this weekend.
Since Ewels was dismissed by referee Mathieu Raynal, plenty of fans have been questioning whether that was the quickest red card in international rugby history. While it may well be in rugby union, some have been quick to point out that former England and Great Britain rugby league international Adrian Morley beat Ewels' time back in 2003... and then some.
The Englishman was dismissed just 12 seconds into Great Britain's clash with Australia in 2003, clotheslining an opponent in the first tackle of the match. This makes it seem as though Ewels was on the pitch for an eternity in comparison, as Morley could have been red carded almost seven times before the England lock received his.
Ewels has obviously not been included in the 34-man England squad to take of France in Paris this weekend. Here's the squad:
