Quins man discovers cheat code with bizarre assist
Harlequins fullback Tyrone Green scored a special try against Sale Sharks on Friday night, and though it was a great individual effort, he received a tiny bit of help at the end.
Just before the South African dived over the line in the corner, he was given a friendly push by his teammate Cadan Murley a split second before he was tackled by the on rushing Denny Solomona. Now it will never be known whether Green would have made it over the line without being bundled into touch had he not received this push from Murley, in truth he probably would have still scored, but it still would have helped. This may be the new role of support runners once it is clear that the ball carrier is opting to score themselves- instead of waiting for a pass they can help launch the player over the whitewash.
This is often seen in close quarters with forwards picking and going or taking the ball from the scrum-half near the line, but less so out wide as a player is haring towards the corner. Then again, it could cause more problems with injuries, so we will have to wait and see whether this catches on.
