No hope for rest the of the world after third choice French No10 scores stunner
It just does not seem fair at the moment the amount of depth France have in almost every position on the field, and that is why they are probably entering their own World Cup as firm favourites.
Fly-half is a position that Les Bleus seem to have choices everywhere. Toulouse's Romain Ntamack is the incumbent No10, but Bordeaux Begles' Matthieu Jalibert is pushing him all the way to start, and deputises for him very well. That basically means that Montpellier's Louis Carbonel is out in the cold. That is despite the 24-year-old scoring tries like he did at the weekend against reigning Heineken Champions Cup winners and finalists La Rochelle.
The fly-half scored one of the tries of the weekend on Saturday at the GGL Stadium, as Montpellier won 42-31. It was a try that was created by a superb piece of skill from Carbonel, and rightfully finished off by him as well after running a support line. His quick back of the hand pass put Jan Serfontein into a gap, who then in turn returned the favour to put Carbonel in for the try.
